Reasons to Use Birth Control
The original reason for oral contraceptives (birth control pills) was to prevent unwanted pregnancies. The way it did that is by “tricking” the body into thinking it’s already pregnant, by raising progesterone levels.
Then, researchers saw that for some women, it helped regulate their periods. For others, it improved skin quality, etc.
Currently, a number of women are using the birth control pill for reasons other than contraception.
