MY DIGESTION IS CAUSING ALL MY WEIGHT GAIN! 😡
Ever had this thought?
One would think that’s a good reason not see weight come off, right???
People will often claim that they are not digesting food well and that this is the reason they are struggling to lose weight.
The problem with this logic is that it’s backwards.
If you were not digesting all the food you were eating, you should be able to eat more food than usual and not gain weight.
To be stored as fat, the nutrients you eat must first be digested and absorbed.
If they are not, these nutrients just pass through.
The human body has a powerful digestive system and can absorb every food you eat (over 90% efficiency).
The more efficient your digestion, the more calories you get out of food.
It is more likely that if you suffer from digestive problems, you will lose weight, and at rapid rates.
For example, those that have Celiac or Crohn’s disease are often very underweight prior to the management of their conditions because their digestive systems have trouble absorbing the food they eat, and end up losing huge amounts of ingested calories.
If you need help losing weight, enhancing your digestion will unlikely help nor taking digestive enzymes/pro-digestive supplements.
