How to Make Exercise A Habit and More!
Common questions you already know the answer to:
- Did you know most diets fail?
- Did you know that most people who start an exercise program will eventually quit?
- Did you know that people with chronic conditions like heart disease and type 2 diabetes rarely get the recommended amount of physical activity?
Even if somehow you have forgotten, it’s never long before a “study” comes out to remind you how only a few people can successfully maintain healthy habits.
However, new research from psychologists at King’s College London suggests otherwise.
What if we focused on the people who succeed, rather than the ones who didn’t?
The Background
The research begins with two data points:
An estimated 450 million people (experts believe the actual number is higher) worldwide have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.
About 70 percent of adults with type 2 diabetes don’t get the recommended 150 minutes a week of physical activity.
Programs to get adults to exercise are often successful. That is, the researchers get their volunteers to show up and do their workouts.
