Fructose Is Not Bad And Why You Should Be Adding Them To Your Diets

Can someone please explain to me why people keep saying fruit should be avoided because of its sugar content?

Stuff like this makes no sense.

The fruit has sugar, yes, and I don’t even care if it’s “natural” or not. The fact is, any carbohydrate-containing food item we eat whether it’s bread, rice, cereal, pasta, crackers, or jellybeans breaks down to ONE thing. SUGAR. More specifically the monosaccharides glucose, fructose, and galactose. The ONLY differences that exist are in the rate and speed at which glucose is released into the bloodstream and the micronutrients that follow. Even though those topics are important they’re not the point of this post.

WHY IS FRUCTOSE IMPORTANT?

500 years ago, before the mass production of sugar, we had minimal fructose in our diet. Fructose was only provided as part of whole food. Whole fruits, vegetables, grains, nuts/seeds, and proteins have limited amounts of fructose and allowed for a moderate intake. As the food industry refined fructose from sources such as corn and added it to a variety of processed foods, our fructose consumption increased.
